This role will be based in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico This is an exciting opportunity to serve as a hands-on, Subject Matter Expert for complex and high-level import compliance initiatives and transactions across all elements of Honeywell's industry-leading business groups! This role encompasses some the following strategic objectives of the Trade Compliance function: Understanding and interpreting international trade regulations in the US and Canada Providing guidance to Logistics, Finance, Customer Service, and other functions on compliance with international trade regulations Serving as a Subject Matter Expert with respect to complex and high-level Corporate and business unit import compliance initiatives, including process improvements and digital transformation Ensuring effective management of customs brokers Ensuring import transactions are executed in compliance with all applicable international trade regulations Refining and overseeing site-based import programs to ensure proper application and execution of customs laws, processes, and procedures Identifying opportunities for process improvement, with significant emphasis on solutions that align with Honeywell's digital transformation objectives We are looking for candidates whose approach to work is in line with the 9 Honeywell Behaviors which underpin the expectations of all employees at Honeywell. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the customs compliance function for several businesses Ensure entries are made in compliance with applicable customs regulations, support day-to-day entry requirements, reconcile customs filings, and optimize duty mitigation practices Advise Trade Compliance management of key issues, new and potential problems, including notices, penalties and other inquiries by Customs. Manage issue resolution Deliver training to small groups or work teams Function as a valued technical consultant to the organization, regularly depended on for subject matter expertise Use independent authority to verify that customs transactions are accurate and compliant; may inquire into any aspect of an import by Honeywell Define and lead problem solving process (determining root cause and corrective actions) which supports department goals and objectives Uses technical capability and analytical skills to establish most effective solution for complex problems that involve interaction of several functions Apply judgment to handle difficult and complex customs transactions using skills from experience or advanced training/education to resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways Participate in process improvement activities, with key focus on digital solutions YOU MUST HAVE Bachelor's degree 3+years of experience in trade or customs regulations in a multi-national, consulting, or customs broker environment 2+ years experience using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook) Due to export control regulations, this position requires US citizenship status.
