Job Description
Olympus Corporation of the Americas (“OCA”) is looking for a Trade Compliance Manager to manage OCA’s compliance to Customs & Border Protection, Export Administration and Census Regulations through the management of all product trade data, accurate import/export transactions, customs broker management and issue resolution. Manager will drive initiatives to enhance procedures, look for operational efficiencies and serve as in-house subject matter expert on trade compliance regulations.
Job Duties
* Responsible for managing the company’s compliance with import entry and export clearance processes and the regulations that govern these processes of Customs & Border Protection (“CBP”), Department of Commerce, Census, and Partner Government Agencies (“PGA”), namely the FDA.
* Manage the import/export product classification process and drive continual enhancement of the data and broker interfaces.
* Govern the trade compliance data in business unit ERP systems and distribution to relevant parties.
* Responsible for customs broker management driving initiatives to monitor performance through quarterly business reviews, key performance indicators and scorecards.
* Administer company’s restricted party screening program for denied, restricted, sanctioned and embargoed parties in accordance with regulations administered by the Departments of State, Commerce and Treasury.
* Manage the company’s process for AES EEI filings across business units and multi-functional departments through user management, work instructions and training.
* Lead the team in supporting business units and customs brokers with daily operational support and issue resolution.
* Manage ACE and AES accounts, Bonds, Importer of Record numbers for all legal entities and utilize ACE and AES data reporting to support projects.
* Create desk procedures/ work instructions and trainings to assist the business comply with import/ export procedures.
* Integrate new acquisitions into our existing compliance structure and processes.
* Manage other special projects as needed.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor’s degree required.
* Minimum of 8 years of experience working in progressively challenging responsibilities within a trade compliance role preferably within manufacturing or the medical equipment industry.
* Licensed Customs Broker.
* Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.): 25% Travel. Minimal travel for company business.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* A minimum of 3 years of experience managing and developing people preferred.
* Extensive knowledge of U.S. customs and export regulations.
* Extensive technical skills in entry review and import/export transaction
* Good understanding of FDA import requirements.
* Must have data analytical and critical thinking skills and be detailed oriented.
* Excellent research, writing and effective verbal communication skills.
* Skilled in Microsoft office, especially excel. Advanced Knowledge of CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment (“ACE”).
* Strong action-oriented individual.
