USTR opens the 2027 USMCA joint review to public comment, with filings due January 12
USTR's Federal Register notice (FR Doc. 2026-20341, published October 5) opens docket USTR-2026-0595 for written comments and USTR-2026-0596 for hearing requests with a summary of testimony, both due through comments.ustr.gov by 11:59 p.m. EST on January 12, 2027. Because the United States declined to extend the Agreement at the July 1 Free Trade Commission meeting, the joint review now repeats every year. USTR asks for comment on how the Agreement operates, compliance issues, actions to propose ahead of the review, the North American investment climate, and economic security. The notice creates no filing obligation and does not name rules of origin, autos or de minimis.
