QUESTION ON BILL HR-1 OF THE 911 COMMISSION: Has anyone in the group heard how the implementation of this bill, specifically Title V- Strengthening the Security of Cargo Containers, is going to be put in place? Is anyone aware of any articles that have been published discussing this new bill?
Can a consolidator in China list himself as the “shipper” for a container he loads with four or five shipments for on Importer in the states? I am thinking that this would be a problem for AMS filings. Am I correct? One masterbill, no housebill, just multiple commercial invoices and mid codes.
Can anyone share their experience taking the freight forwarding function in-house? I don’t see too many hurdles on the ocean side, but on the air side in dealings with airlines, CASS payments etc, are there barriers to entry that cause the membership to see 3PLs as value added?
